Bekasi, IO – Farmers harvest cucumbers against the backdrop of the East Pondok Aren (EPN)-001 Well in Bekasi regency, West Java, which is the location of the discovery of new oil and gas sources.
The drilling of the EPN-001 well also serves as proof of a new technique in the form of a stratigraphic trap in the Lower Cibulakan Formation, Ciputat Sub Basin. The site is also dotted with rice fields owned and cultivated by the local residents. State-run energy company PT Pertamina purchased around 5 hectares of rice fields in Sukawijaya village which contains these oil and gas resources.

The discovery of these reserves is also an important part of the government’s program in the national energy sector to achieve the gas production target of 12 billion standard cubic feet per day (BSCFD) and oil production of 1 million barrels per day by 2030. During the January-November 2023 period, the company contributed to national oil production of 69,624 BOPD, and natural gas of 838.6 MMSCFD.
