Jakarta, IO – Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said the dynamics and competition among major powers in the region, as well as maritime security, both in ASEAN and the Pacific must be managed properly, reported Bisnis Indonesia, Friday (10/2).
“Otherwise, this rivalry can turn into an open conflict that will greatly impact the region,” she said at a virtual presser from Canberra. Therefore, Indonesia and Australia should work together to maintain a peaceful, stable and prosperous Indo-Pacific.
Moreover, the Indo-Pacific perspective prioritizes inclusive economic cooperation and development, instead of competition and rivalry. “In this regard, Indonesia emphasizes the importance to synergize the implementation of the Asean Outlook on Indo-Pacific (AOIP),” said Retno.
