IO – Prior to the 2024 general elections, the Financial Transaction and Analysis Reporting Center or PPATK, according to its Indonesian language acronym, will form a special task force to monitor the flow of funds donated to political parties participating in the 2024 elections.

Head of PPATK Ivan Yustiavandana said he frequently uncovered donations made to political parties in previous elections, from both individuals and corporations, that failed to comply with regulations.

General Elections Commission (KPU) Regulation No. 7/2013 on campaign funds stipulates that donations made to political parties must be limited to IDR 1 billion (individual donor) and IDR 7.5 billion (groups or corporations). “If a donation exceeds the limit, we will report it to KPU or the General Election Supervisory Agency (BAWASLU),” said Ivan.

Further, Ivan mentioned how the legality of contributions would be scrutinized. “We will work to discover whether money comes from legal or illegal sources,” he said. If funds are determined to have derived from illegal sources, PPATK will make a report for the election committee.

Ivan added that PPTK takes sources of funding seriously, and “We will prepare a special task force to track sources.” (des)
