Jakarta, IO – An ancient jar from the Tang Dynasty dating back to the 9th century was found in Kropakan hamlet, Klaten. Indeed, this was not the first discovery. A regional stone marker was also found, believed to be modelled after the one in Puro Mangkunegaran Solo.

Local residents were the first to discover the two suspected cultural heritage objects (ODCB). The location where the stone marker was found is located on the northern side of the Ancient Mataram era site which was researched by the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), per Detikcom, Wednesday (17/1).

“The jar was found on Monday (15/1) afternoon. I then reported it, then we took it. The condition is good. The marker stone was found on the north side of the Ancient Mataram era site. We reported it to cultural heritage activists and BRIN,” said Pupun Prasetyo, the head of the neighbourhood unit.

All the cultural heritage objects were then stored at basecamp. Currently, local residents continue to collect objects from the past. “We have collected various such relics. In the future, we will create a kind of museum or basecamp to preserve the invaluable objects with historical value,” said Pupun.

Hari Wahyudi, Klaten cultural heritage activist who is accompanying the residents, said the jar is in good condition. It is suspected that it originates from Tang Dynasty in the 9th century AD.
