Jakarta’s fishing village residents thankful for Prabowo’s floating houses assistance

Jakarta, IO – Residents of a fisherman’s village in Muara Angke, North Jakarta, expressed their gratitude for the floating houses and stilt houses assistance provided by Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, Saturday (13/4).

“It’s very comfortable, the house is nice. If it was up to me, I wouldn’t be able to build (a house) like this. (There’s no cost for) food,” said Iwan Susilo, one of the recipients.

This was echoed by Delina, who elatedly said: “Thank God, we are very happy with the assistance as they go a long way to improve our livelihood.”

In addition, the residents received Eid gifts in the form of learning equipment for their children. “Thank you, Mr Prabowo,” said the children while showing their school bags.

One of the children, Annisa, took out a number of school supplies such as uniforms, pencil boxes, drawing books, lunch boxes, watches and socks.

A total of 16 floating houses and 12 stilt houses were built on 9sqm area for 18 households made up of 80 people as part of the efforts to improve the welfare of residents often affected by tidal floods and coastal abrasion.

The dwelling units also come with green open spaces and public facilities including desalination kit to supply fresh water for the community.
