Jakarta, IO –The most worth-waiting-for: international UBUD VILLAGE JAZZ FESTIVAL (UVJF) is entering its 10th consecutive years of jazz celebration this year. Supposedly it’s the 11th year, but we had to involuntary cut the 2020 edition…
Since we are starting a new decade, UVJF 2023 will be held at a new location on July 28th and 29th (Friday and Saturday). “We’ve been holding the festival in ARMA for nine years, and the number of attendees has steadily grown, with no sign of slowing down. We want to keep the festival cozy and comfortable for our spectators, and keep surprising them with new experiences.” said Yuri Mahatma, the festival co-founder. “We have finally decided to have our event at STHALA Ubud Portfolio Hotel by Marriot. The hotel’s stunning open-air space is the perfect setting for our event. We are looking forward to celebrating in this beautiful scenery.”
Klik Swantara, the festival architect, will use his wizardry of creativity to create a dreamlike ambiance, incorporating, as always, space for local culinary businesses as well as small companies from the creative sectors, in order to add to the overall experience of the event. “We wish to attract not only jazz enthusiasts but also a wider range of demographic” Klik mentioned.
This 10th Year Celebration is marking a Come-Back-withFull-Force, after the worldwide lockdown. A diverse and talented lineup of musicians from all around the world and the archipelago will come together for the two-day event, bringing you on a journey of musical exploration and discovery. Among them are the very well- known and respected Kevin Hays Trio (USA), along with Pere Bujosa Trio (Spain), Henk Kraajeveld Quintet (The Netherlands), MANNA Trio featuring Indonesian bass living legend Mates, Rio Moreno Latin Combo (Indonesia), Amanda Lee (Singapore), Wilson Quah (Malaysia-Indonesia), Jeremie Ternoy (France), Yuri Mahatma & Astrid Sulaiman (Indonesia), and the young and gifted pianist Nadine Adriana (Bandung), Etawa Jazz (Jogjakarta) and many more.
UVJF 2023 is very grateful to the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of The Republic of Indonesia for their support in choosing us as one of the Top 10 BEST International scale events of the year. For the past decade, UVJF has been entrusted by international embassies to be a platform that showcases jazz musicians of their respective countries. This year is no different: with the support of the cultural affairs departments of France (Institut Français Indonésie), Association Jazz Croise, The Netherlands (Erasmus Huis), and Spain (Institute d’Estudis Balearics), Rostov Jazz School and Administration of the city of Rostov-onDon, Russia, for instance.
