Jakarta, IO – Indonesia moved quickly to help Turkey deal with the aftermath of the devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck the country on Monday (6/2).

Apart from logistical assistance such as food, blankets and medicine, Indonesian Air Force also dispatched its Hercules C-130 along with its crew. They were ordered to stay and help Turkey cope with the large-scale disaster across several regions.

The Indonesian Embassy in Ankara through its official statement said the humanitarian mission was directly ordered by Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto. He directed the crew and Hercules aircraft to distribute logistics and evacuate survivors until Monday (20/2).

Air Force pilot Colonel Wisoko, the mission commander, admitted that the team encountered a number of challenges, including the freezing wintry season.

Wisoko, accompanied by C-130 Hercules pilot Lt. Col. Yudi Bandung, shared their experiences to Indonesia Defense Magazine (IDM) on Wednesday (15/2).
