Jakarta, IO – The 43rd Asean Summit will take place from tomorrow, Tuesday (5/9) to Thursday (7/9) in Jakarta. A number of agreements will be discussed in the agenda.
President Joko Widodo wants this international forum to go beyond the official level. He expected all the agreements to produce concrete benefits that can be felt directly by the people, per Detikcom, Monday (4/9).
“From the start, I always said that Asean should not just talking aloft, but can actually have benefits downwards, to society,” said Jokowi.
Indonesia’s chairmanship is said to have an impact on strengthening the national economy. One of them is through the visit of delegates from Asean member countries, including their partners, to Indonesia.
The potential foreign exchange that can be earned is estimated at US$34 million (Rp481 billion), as a form of direct foreign exchange obtained in connection with various activities carried out in Indonesia.

In addition, Indonesia’s chairmanship will also elevate global recognition of Indonesia’s ability to lead the region. This will eventually affect stability and peace in the region.
The aspect of cooperation between Asean members will continue to strengthen the regional bloc as the 5th largest economic region in the world with US$3.3 trillion economy. (un)
