Jakarta, IO – The Latvian basketball team managed to reach the quarter-finals after defeating Brazil in the second round of Group L of the FIBA World Cup 2023 at the Indonesia Arena, Senayan, Jakarta, Sunday (3/9). In that match, Latvia played exceptionally well from the start, where Roland Smith and team mates continued to dominate with a convincing score of 104-84 when the fourth quarter ended.
Apart from Latvia, the Canadian basketball team also secured a place in the quarter-finals after beating defending champion Spain with a dramatic score of 88-85. Canada’s victory was won by a fierce battle that lasted from the start of the match. Both teams demonstrated fast tempo play since the first quarter with tight points.

The tension occurred one minute before the match when the scores came to a draw 80-80. Canada, which initially was left behind, was able to reverse the position to 88-85 with 5 seconds remaining in the final time. The quarter-finals will be held on September 6.
