Starting today, passengers at Gambir Station are required to undergo facial identification

Jakarta, IO – PT Kereta Api Indonesia Operational Area 1 (Jakarta) officially implemented a boarding service using the facial recognition technology at South Gate of Gambir Station starting today, Friday (1/9).

The service takes the form of camera facilities in the ticket inspection area. The equipment will later identify and validate passengers whose data has been integrated with ticket data in KAI’s boarding system, per Republika.

KAI also urges customers to immediately register for the service. This can be done through the official KAI application or contact the officers at the South Gate. The registration process can be done at the check-in counter machine or through a special duty officers.

The registration process only needs to be done once. Customers only need to bring their e-KTP. It can be carried out immediately by tapping the e-KTP on the reader device and then placing the right or left index finger on the device’s scanner.

For customers who cannot register because they do not have an e-KTP, such as a child customer or the e-KTP is damaged, the registration process can be carried out through a customer service officer.

Other than Gambir, the technology will also be implemented at Bandung, Yogyakarta, Surabaya Gubeng, Malang and Solo Balapan stations. (un)
