Sri Lankan businessman found dead in Jakarta


Jakarta, IO – Onesh Subasinghe, 45, was found dead in an apartment in Jakarta. He was on vacation with his Brazilian wife and their daughter. An unidentified Brazilian woman also accompanied them from Colombo, reported, Friday (10/2).

Subasinghe last contacted his family in Colombo on Tuesday (2/2). Worried about his condition, his family contacted the apartment and asked them to check on Subasinghe. As the apartment management also could not contact Subasinghe, they searched the apartment and found one of the bedroom doors locked. They broke down the door and found his body inside.

According to the CCTV footage, Subasinghe’s wife and his daughter along with the unidentified woman left the apartment on Tuesday. They also hung the “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door.

The police have launched an investigation and designated the incident as possible homicide. The Foreign Ministry and the Sri Lankan Embassy in Jakarta are also investigating the matter. (un)
