Sales of jerseys jump in Tanah Abang

Jakarta, IO – Sellers of national teams’ jerseys in Tanah Abang clothing market, Jakarta, saw their sales increased during the Qatar World Cup. Hendra, 52, who owns a shop at the market, told Observerid.com on Wednesday (30/11) that he is able to reap hundreds of millions in profit per day from in-store and online sales.

Some of the most sought-after jerseys are those of the Argentinian, German, Brazilian and Portuguese teams. Interestingly, the jerseys of Saudi Arabian team are also selling like hot cakes after the country managed to beat Argentina 2-1 in the opening match of Group C.

Apart from national team jerseys, those of European football clubs such as Barcelona, AC Milan and Real Madrid are also in high demand. Hendra said the prices of national team jerseys range between Rp150,000 to Rp200,000 while for clubs around Rp75,000 to Rp100,000. (Septo Kun Wijaya)
