Jakarta, IO – A number of vehicles were stuck in traffic while trying to pass through flooded Ahmad Yani Street, Pulomas, Jakarta, Thursday (29/2).
The heavy rain that hit since last night caused flooding on several roads in Jakarta. This condition has an impact on traffic jams around flooded areas, where motorbike riders have to try to drive through flood water or push their vehicles. However, some drivers were stuck when trying to drive through the floodwaters, adding to the traffic jam situation.
Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) head Isnawa Adji explained that the height of the flood water in the capital city varied from 10-50 centimeters at 8am WIB. Floods are also caused by the inability of rivers to accommodate volumes of water that exceed their capacity.
