Police uncovers fuel hoarding in North Jakarta

Jakarta, IO – The Tanjung Priok Police have uncovered illegal stockpiling of diesel fuel in Cilincing, North Jakarta, Sindonews reported on Saturday (3/9).

Tanjung Priok Port Police Deputy Commissioner Yunita Natalia Rungkat said the hoarding suspect is identified as MY (42). He transported the fuel using a fuel truck.

“The modus operandi of the suspect is diverting government subsidized fuel by transporting it using a modified fuel truck,” said Yunita.

The police added that MY plans to be resold the stock when fuel prices rise. He has done this for the past three months by siphoning fuel from two gas stations in North and West Jakarta.

Police obtained six pieces of evidence in the form of gas station receipts for the purchase of 3 tanks containing 2.7 tons of diesel. Police also confiscated one truck, one hose reel, one pump and one battery. MY faces a maximum six years of imprisonment and a fine of up to Rp60 billion if convicted. (un)
