Bekasi, IO – A number of patients with mental illnesses (ODGJ) participated in the 2024 General Election at a polling station (TPS) in the Bekasi area of West Java on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. The Jamrud Biru Foundation (“Mental Rehabilitation Social Shelter”) participated in the democratic process, by including their patients in the voting.
A total of 97 residents under the care of the foundation were registered on the Permanent Voter List (DPT) and prepared to participate in the democratic event. The eligible patients joined the communities in eight nearby TPS locations, including Mustikasari, Bekasi, as regulated in their respective DPTs.

The patients were transported on a colorful kiddie ride to the TPS, to exercise their voting rights. This event reflects inclusivity during the general elections, as individuals with mental illnesses are provided with an equal opportunity to participate in the country’s democratic process.
