Jakarta, IO – Public Facility Maintenance Agency (PPSU) workers bok choy (Chinese cabbage) planted using hydroponic techniques in the yard of the Ciracas Village Office, Jakarta.

The facility utilizes 32 sqm of empty land in Ciracas Village to create a garden to plant fruit and vegetables such as grapes, bok choy and chilies. The harvest will later be distributed free of charge as a measure to achieve food security for local residents.

The urban farming initiative has run for two years. It aims to build public interest in urban farming as one of the methods to mitigate the impact of drought, especially in Jakarta which is very dependent on agricultural products from other regions.
