Jakarta, IO – The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) rejected the request for protection from former agriculture minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL).

LPSK deputy chair Edwin Partogi said that SYL’s request for protection was related to acts of corruption in the Agriculture Ministry (Kementan) and extortion by the head of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), per Kompas, Tue (28/11).

LPSK also rejected the protection request from Muhammad Hatta, the former director of equipment and machinery at Kementan. Both of them have been named suspects and are under KPK detention.

Nevertheless, LPSK agreed to protect SYL’s aide Panji Harjanto and driver Hartoyo. Both were given a physical protection program during witness examination and as part of the fulfilment of procedural rights.

Another figure whose application was accepted by LPSK was U. He is a staff member at Kementan. Aside from providing physical protection and procedural compliance, U was also given psychological rehabilitation.
