Jakarta, IO – The (Alliance of Animal Friends Jogja and Monkey Care Action) held a protest in front of the Environment and Forestry Ministry (KLHK), Jakarta, Monday (23/5).

They raised their concern about the trend of keeping monkeys as pet which has become popular lately. Although the exact number of monkeys traded is yet to be known, the public can easily find baby monkeys sold freely in the animal market.

They urged the Environment and Forestry Minister Siti Nurbaya Bakar to immediately crack down on the illegal monkey trade in Indonesia. (Aslam Iqbal)
