Largest hospital in eastern Indonesia which costs Rp420b inaugurated

Jakarta, IO – Central General Hospital (RSUP) dr. Ben Mboi in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), was inaugurated by Indonesian President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Wednesday (6/12).

“This is the largest hospital in eastern Indonesia, especially in NTT, built on 14 hectares of land with the building area measuring 35,000 sqm. It is a very big hospital,” said Jokowi, per Setkab.go.id.

Jokowi hoped that the presence of this mega health facility can improve health services for people in eastern Indonesia so that they do not need to go to other provinces. He also encouraged the needs for more health workers be fulfilled, especially specialists and subspecialists.

“Hopefully this will become the health infrastructure backbone in NTT and can also improve health services for the community, so people here don’t need to go all the way to Jakarta because everything can be handled here. And the most important thing is that additional human resources, especially specialist and subspecialist doctors, must be provided immediately so that there is no shortage,” he said.

“The hospital is also equipped with very modern health equipment. Therefore, it should be able to collaborate with other hospitals. There are CT scan which costs Rp20 billion. So the maintenance aspect must also be given attention,” he said. (bp)
