Jakarta, IO – H, an 18-year-old student at Husnul Khotimah pesantren (Islamic boarding school) in Kuningan Regency, West Java, died after he was assaulted by his classmates.
The pesantren spokesperson Sanwani confirmed the incident and deeply regrets that the “out-of-bounds” incident occurred within the school, per Kompas, Wed (6/12).
“After 30 years of existence, this is the first time that this has happened. We profoundly regret the incident,” said Sanwani.
He said the school has yet to know what exactly happened. When it received the news that a student was badly injured, he was taken directly to the hospital for medical treatment. But the student could not be saved.
When asked about the chronology of the incident, the school handed it over to their legal representative. Sanwani said the case is being handled by the police and called for patience until the exact cause of death is made public.

Meanwhile, Kuningan Police chief Superintendent Willy Andrian said the case that shocked the locals is being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Departement.
“With regard to the case of bullying and beatings at the Husnul Khotimah pesantren, we can only convey that the victim had unusual bruises on parts of his face and body,” said Willy. (rr)
