Jakarta, IO – Maintaining its consistency in supporting Jakarta’s tourism sector, the Jakarta Experience Board / PT Jakarta Tourisindo (Perseroda) launched the Jakarta Creative Zone by JXB. This creative zone pilot project, located in Jalan Sudirman, Central Jakarta, was inaugurated on Sunday (11/06/2023), a car-free day, allowing people in and around the Sudirman area to enjoy existing facilities. DKI Jakarta Provincial Government staff, Region-Owned Enterprise directors, and other relevant collaborators attended the inauguration.

“I hope that the Riverview Creative Zone by JXB will be a place where amazing ideas can appear and develop. I also hope that it will become a forum that generates positive influence on the local economy. Let us work together to make the space one of the activity spots available to the community, for interacting with one another and developing a creative industry in Jakarta. This will be sure to increase independence, progress, and success of Jakarta DKI, according to the motto ‘Sukses Jakarta Untuk Indonesia’, ‘Jakarta’s Success for Indonesia’,” declared Andhika Permata, Head of the DKI Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Office.

“The Jakarta Creative Zone by JXB is an additional gift, nearing the anniversary of our beloved Jakarta City. In line with its motto, ‘Jadi Karya untuk Nusantara’, ‘Becoming a Work for the Archipelago’, we hope that the Creative Zone will prove to be an optimum use of land that contributes to the welfare of our community. We also expect it to be able to support Jakarta’s image as a modern, creative, and inclusive global urban center,” declared Novita Dewi, Jakarta Experience Board President Director. “We plan to establish more Jakarta Creative Zones by JXB in other spots in Jakarta, each with its own creative theme, and established in collaboration with local communities.”

Jakarta Creative Zone by JXB-Riverview is a facility meant for use by the community – tourists, daily commuters, bikers, and pedestrians in Jakarta. With smart glass toilets, a culinary area and interactive spaces that activate creativity in public spaces, it is an attempt to accommodate the needs of the people – especially those who work and engage in activities in downtown Jakarta. “We have constructed the first phase of the Riverview edition of the Jakarta Creative Zone by JXB at a length of 150 meters. We will soon continue construction for the second phase, which will extend 600 meters, towards Karet Station,” Novita reported.

One of the facilities, the smart glass toilet, is made of glass designed to seem transparent from the outside…yet turns opaque when in use. The idea for its construction comes from the need of locals and tourists for clean, comfortable and affordable sanitation facilities. By paying just Rp 5,000.00, anyone can use the smart toilet. Like all other facilities in the Zone, payment may be made using cash or digital payment methods, such as QRIS.

Jakarta Creative Zone by JXB-Riverview also provides a culinary area for local businesses to make themselves known in an activity hub. This will encourage the revival of our economy, especially the culinary and creative economy industry. There are also areas for sitting alone and hanging out, as the facility is meant to act as a space for specific communities and society in general, creating a framework to interact with each other.

JXB has two different creative zones: the currently existing Jakarta Creative Zone by JXB-Riverview along Sudirman, and a planned Jakarta Creative Zone by JXB-Buy Local in Dukuh Atas Park. Unlike the Riverview, the Buy Local Jakarta Creative Zone will contain information facilities about tourism in Jakarta and sales booths of Jakarta souvenirs. It will also provide interactive spaces that people can use for creative activities.

Novita went on to express her appreciation for the support she and her team received from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, collaborators, and people in general: “JXB’s success today is naturally thanks to the synergy established by everyone. In the effort to establish Jakarta as a global city, JXB, as a Region-Owned tourism and hotel enterprise, hopes that the facility will become something that Jakartans will be proud of, and be a new urban icon in our fair city,” she declared.
