Jokowi launches 1,000-ha mango estate, ready for export in 3 years

Jakarta, IO – President Joko Widodo launched a mango-based food estate in Gresik regency, East Java on Monday (22/8). He expressed his hope that the integrated mango farm equipped with the irrigation system can increase agricultural productivity in Gresik.

“Today I am in Gresik regency to plant mangoes in approximately 1,000 ha covering four sub-districts. We hope this is a food estate, some of them owned by the local residents, some by privately companies, can benefit the region,” said Jokowi.

He estimates that in the next three years, the mango farm can be harvested to supply the domestic market and exported export. The government also plans to develop similar food estate in other regions.
