Jakarta, IO – In addition to Jakarta, the Japan Visa Application Center (JVAC) is now operating in four additional cities in Indonesia – namely, Bali, Makassar, Medan and Surabaya.

Thus, starting April 1, 2024, Japanese visa applicants from these four regions now no longer need to apply for visas in Jakarta. Japanese Consul General in Surabaya, Takeyama Kenichi, explained that this measure aims to improve visa application service to Indonesians, who are the main source of arrivals to Japan.

“We are taking all possible steps to facilitate and simplify the visa application process for tourists,” explained Kenichi, per Kompas, Thu (2/4). “The establishment of these new visa application centers is an important step towards a strategy to further develop our bilateral relations.”

Japanese visa applicants from Bali, Makassar, Medan and Surabaya can now apply for short-term visit visas and special visas, student visas and worker visas.
