Bayu said the purchase will also help the country’s aviation industry recover and promote domestic and international tourism industry after having been hit by the pandemic.

“At the end of this year, Transnusa will receive the delivery of its fourth A320,” Bayu added.

Transnusa is owned by PT TransNusa Aviation Mandiri based in El Tari Airport, Kupang. It used to operate charter flights in Eastern Indonesia, primarily Nusa Tenggara and Sulawesi, using aircrafts leased from Pelita Air and Trigana Air Service.

In August 2011, it reached a new milestone after receiving its own Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) and permit for scheduled commercial flight permit. As the company grows, it ventured into the low-cost carrier (LCC) segment last year. (rr)
