Govt officially launches logo of Indonesia’s 78th independence anniversary

Jakarta, IO – Presidential Secretariat (Setpres) head Heru Budi Hartono said the logo was personally selected by President Joko Widodo.

The 2023 Indonesia Independence Day logo features the stylized number seven located lower than the number eight which is formed from a combination of lines. Next to the numbers is the theme “Moving Forward for Developed Indonesia,” per Detik, Tuesday (13/6).

Heru explained that the logo reflects determination, stability and unity. The theme of the logo means continuing collective growth and encouraging all national elements to realized a developed Indonesia.

Furthermore, Heru explained a number of rules for using the logo that must be considered by ministries/agencies and the public. These in particular concerns the logo placement and prohibitions on changing the shape and color of the logo.

Other restrictions include not changing the composition of the logo, adding effects to the logo, and changing the colors and gradations.

Heru also said adding President Jokowi’s image alongside the logo requires permission from the State Secretariat.  Nevertheless, he advised against it.

The was designed by a team from the Indonesian Graphic Designers Association (ADGI). ADGI representative Ritchie Ned Hansel said the logo aims to convey the spirit and values of the state ideology Pancasila.

“In number 7, the baton extends to number 8, which means shared goals, shared responsibility. Then the graphic elements represent the spirit of mutual cooperation,” explained Ritchie.  (un)
