Jakarta, IO – Immigration Directorate General has officially launched a “second home” visa scheme for foreign nationals via Circular IMI-0740.GR.01.01/2022 on the granting of second home visas and stay permits which will allow stay for 5 or 10 years in Indonesia.

According to Law and Human Rights Minister Yasonna Laoly, the second home visa is targeted at certain foreign nationals or former Indonesian citizens who wish to stay and contribute to Indonesia’s economy, such as through investment, reported Suara on Monday (31/10).

“There are those who criticized that we will be invaded by the Chinese and other foreigners. Well, Malaysia has been ahead of us, it’s called The Silver-haired Program, and the country was not invaded,” retorted Yasonna.

He also ensured that the second home visa policy is not dangerous and does not put the stability of the country at risk. In fact, it will bring many benefits, including direct or indirect state revenues, increased investment, equitable economic growth in the surrounding area, growing business opportunities that can generate multiplier effects, and create more jobs.
