Arriving at a building in Bai Sheng Compound, First Gate, Myawaddy, they were offered a contract in Chinese.

“They tried to refuse to sign [because they didn’t understand the contents]. The company said that if they refused to sign, they had to pay (all accommodation costs),” explained Rosa.

If they refuse, they must pay compensation around US$20,000 (Rp292 million). Reluctantly, they finally agreed to work. As it turns out, they were hired to defraud people through fake investments.

While working, they are said to have been tortured with various punishments if they did not meet the target and were always under surveillance.
