Bekasi, IO – Hundreds of fishermen who support presidential and vice presidential candidates Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka held a boat parade on Citarum River, Bekasi regency, Wednesday (17/1).

Wearing blue attributes, the group of fishermen set off from Muara Gembong pier, along the Citarum river to the fishing village of Muara Beting, Bekasi. Along the river, the fishermen greeted residents on the banks of the Citarum river while yelling the name “Prabowo-Gibran” while making the two-finger gesture.

As soon as they arrived at the location, many campaign props to show support for Prabowo-Gibran were put up on every crossing bridge in Muara Beting village. One can see many banners and flags with pictures of presidential and vice presidential candidates No 2.

The parade, which was participated in by about 300 boats, aims to welcome the arrival of Prabowo’s younger brother, Hashim Djojohadikusumo, and his family who wanted to visit and listen to the aspirations of the fishermen in Kampung Beting.

Hashim said that he and his family represented Prabowo Subianto to socialize the Prabowo-Gibran campaign’s programs and absorb input and aspirations from the community. One of the programs presented by Hashim is the construction of a Giant Sea Wall which needs to be realized to mitigate sea level rise and erosion in the northern coast of Java (pantura).

It is known that this village, which was once thriving in the 1980s, is now in danger of being submerged. The distance between Muara Beting Ujung village and the sea is currently only 200 meters. In fact, in early 2000, it was still around 1.5 kilometers. Coastal erosion and land subsidence have wiped out three other villages in Muara Beting Ujung.
