Jakarta, IO – Indonesian social media is abuzz with the news of the alleged leak of 34 passport data of Indonesian citizens. Bjorka, an anonymous hacker who has taken social media by storm some time ago, is suspected of being the mastermind.

Ethical Hacker Indonesia founder Teguh Aprianto was the first to reveal the leak via his personal Twitter account.

“For those who already have passports, congratulations because 34 million passport data have just been leaked and traded. The data that is confirmed to be leaked includes passport numbers, passport validity dates, full names, dates of birth, gender etc. @kemkominfo and @BSSN_RI, what have you done so far?” he tweeted.

He said the perpetrator had also provided 1 million data samples which, he said, is valid. “If you look at the sample data provided, the data looks valid. The timestamps are from 2009-2020,” said Teguh. Teguh’s tweet has been viewed 2.4 million times and generated nearly 2,000 comments.

Most netizens admit that they are surprised how data leaks in Indonesia can occur repeatedly, and no one has been able to tackle this cyber crime even though the country has Communications and Information Ministry and the National Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN). (un)
