Jakarta, IO – Bank Indonesia (BI) and the Finance Ministry launched the 2022 edition of Rupiah banknotes on Thursday (18/7). A total of seven banknotes were issued in different denominations from Rp1,000 to Rp100,000.
The virtual launch was carried out by Finance Minister Sri Mulyani and BI Governor Perry Warjiyo.
“Today, we officially launched seven banknotes for the 2022 edition as legal tender across the territory of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia,” Perry said, as broadcast by BI YouTube channel on Thursday (18/7).
President Joko Widodo honoured seven national heroes as the main images on the 2022 banknotes through Presidential Decree 13/2012 signed on July 6.
Image of independence proclaimers Ir. Soekarno and Dr. (H.C.) Drs Mohammad Hatta are used on the Rp100,000 banknote. Former prime minister and UNCLOS conceptor Ir. H. Djuanda Kartawidjaja appears on Rp50,000 banknote.
