Araf also perceived that JIP needed to collaborate with other. “We have many friends in the ecosystem who want to work with us; therefore, we must prepare for it,” he added.

According to Araf, Jakarta is Indonesia’s point of reference. Technological advancement transpires easily in Jakarta; hence, JIP must prepare its supporting infrastructure. “We know the technology, the operators, and also the manufacturers. The next step is to enact regulations for everyone to comply with and accept. The Jakpro Holding will also be involved in promoting the regulations, with the aim of allowing people in Jakarta to easily apply technology,” added Araf.

As the capital city of Indonesia and the main business center, DKI Jakarta provincial administration wishes to promote Jakarta as a smart and livable city. According to Araf, deploying a smart city system is easy; however, with Jakarta being a 496-year-old city, it requires time.

Since 2019, JIP has been entrusted by Jakpro with the construction of an Integrated Utility Network Facility (SJUT). SJUT is an underground system for placing utility networks, such as communications cables.

“SJUT is the appropriate initial step, and we are committed to constructing and completing the assignment to build an aesthetic, livable city. There will be no cables hanging from pole to pole, as it is untidy and irritating. Not an image of a smart and livable city. The benchmark of a “smart and livable city” would undoubtedly be Copenhagen, Denmark,” stated Araf.

“Copenhagen has emerged as a model for all cities around the world. Jakarta and other cities would, of course, be different. We talk about some changes for the city. For example, utility cables such as telephone cables, electricity cables, and water pipes must be buried underground through this SJUT, making people’s lives easier,” Araf added.
