Jakarta, IO – The name is Araf Anbiya. For more than two decades, he has advanced his career in the telecommunications business. Since 2022, Araf has entered a new phase in his career: he was elected President Director of Jakarta Infrastruktur Propertindo.

Jakarta Infrastruktur Propertindo (JIP) is a subsidiary of the DKI Jakarta provincial government-owned ROEs, PT Jakarta Propertindo (Perseroda), also known as Jakpro.

The appointment of Araf as President Director of Jakarta Infrastruktur Propertindo did not surprise many people, as he possesses both exceptional capacity and competence. Throughout his 23-year career in telecommunications, he has worked for a number of global corporations, from Chinese firms to German and French firms.

Despite his qualifications, Araf admits to looking forward to his new responsibilities. “I used to be on the side of the players. Now I hold the responsibility to regulate,” he explained, as he began a conversation with the Independent Observer.

With great trust and responsibility in his early days of leadership in JIP, Araf seeks to rebrand JIP and reach more people to recognize JIP. “I also want JIP to return to its roots as a telco ICT (Information and Communication Technology), which we currently run, and remain attentive to the ecosystem of telco ICT in Indonesia,” explained Araf.

Araf is grateful that JIP has implemented a Good Corporate Governance (GCG) policy. “The rules are very strict here, which I am happy about. Unlike private companies that depend on the owner, at JIP, we must comply with the DKI provincial government, yet we still need to be adaptable. That’s the challenge,” Araf continued.

What work culture will Araf bring to JIP, as a pure professional? “I need everyone to move out of their comfort zone. Staying in one’s comfort zone for too long is not acceptable. I worked for nine different companies during the course of my 23-year career and met people from other cultures and business entrepreneurs. I’ve never been in my comfort zone. Thus, we can be more creative. Stepping up means having the courage to make uncomfortable decisions that lead to breakthroughs,” he explained.
