Two key goals SJUT can help achieve are first, Jakarta’s hanging cable-free status, and second, a more competitive business sense in Jakarta. “Alhamdulillah, many people have conveyed their positive feedback this year,” Araf remarked.

JIP expects to complete the 115-kilometer (km) Integrated Utility Network Facility (SJUT) in South and East Jakarta, within the next 4-5 years. “We have completed 25 kilometers, so there are still 90 kilometers to go in South and East Jakarta,” said Araf.

“The most difficult part is getting the cables down from top to bottom because we can’t do it carelessly: they belong to the operators and Internet Service Providers (ISPs). ISPs will complain if we blunder. We must work together to transform Jakarta into a smart and livable city,” he said.

Araf has set numerous goals for himself throughout his five years as President. First and foremost, JIP must become a healthy organization, seeking new business opportunities. “For example, we have a tower set up in 2006 that is slowing down, and now I’m offering it to the operator,” he explained. Second, digital signage “I want to stick to the original plan of making money for JIP,” he stated. Third, finish the SJUT assignment. “I want to leave JIP with a sound legacy,” he said. Fourth, increase public awareness of JIP in Jakarta.

Araf concluded the chat by sharing his two fundamental life values: being adaptable under any circumstances and being beneficial with other people. “My two core values underlie honesty, hard work, and effective communication,” he added. “Leaders seek results. I’ve always been results-oriented and driven to succeed. I intend to work hard for JIP and maximize its potential,” he stated.
Araf describes himself as a leader who treats his subordinates as peers.

“Because I, too, was once a subordinate. A good leader is one who frequently stumbles and makes quick judgments. A successful leader is created when he frequently makes incorrect decisions but can quickly turn them into correct ones. I will do my best for JIP, based on my experience,” he stated confidently.
