Jakarta, IO – Prominent Indonesian jazz musician Indra Lesmana will commence his series of concerts at JIE Expo, Jakarta, on Tuesday, 27 August. Indra was forced to postpone the concert which was originally scheduled for August 12 because caught Covid-19. 

“On the evening of August 9, I tested positive for Covid-19 and with great regret and deep disappointment, we have decided that the Indra Lesmana Legacy Concert must be postponed,” wrote Indra Lesmana on Instagram on Wednesday, August 10, 2022. 

Meanwhile, a series of concert tours in cities such as Bandung, Yogyakarta and Bali will be decided in the near future, considering that further adjustments and preparations are needed. Indra Lesmana apologized to all ticket holders for this sudden schedule change. “I sincerely apologize for the circumstances of this change and any inconvenience caused,” he wrote. 

“Right now I’m trying to focus on my recovery and will come back stronger to give you an amazing concert that we can all be proud of. Thank you so much for your understanding and amazing support.” 

The show, titled Indra Lesmana Legacy Concert, will be held with the support of top-notch Indonesian music personages Addie MS, Andien, Once Mekel, Teza Sumendra, Tohpati, Tompi, Monita Tahalea, Eva Celia, Javajazz, Kaka Slank, Lyodra, Maliq & D’Essentials, ILP, and Ardhito Pramono. Indra is entrusting the conducting of the background musicians to Aksan Sjuman, while he assigns the musical arrangement of the concert’s songs to Addie MS, Tohpati, Adra Karim and Indra Perkasa. 

For his upcoming concert, Indra will share the stage with his daughter Eva Celia. The latter successfully covered Chrisye’s hit Diskoria in a duet with Laleimaninno last year. The father and daughter duet will be the latest of several performed over the years. 

Child prodigy 

Born 28 March 1966 from jazz musicians Jack and Nien Lesmana, Indra is a multitalented Indonesian musician, composer, record producer, and sound engineer who has a strong interest in audio technology. From the start, he learned by listening to masters John Coltrane, Miles Davis, McCoy Tyner, and Charlie Parker intensively, finding his own unique style later. 

Indra’s musical career started at the tender age of 10, when he played the keyboard alongside his father in Bandung in March 1976. Two months later, he again played the keyboard in a jazz concert involving senior jazzmen Jack Lesmana, Benny Likumahuwa, and Broery Marantika at the Ismail Marzuki Park, Jakarta.
