Jakarta, IO – Workers producing loafers at the shoe-making home industry center in Penggilingan, Cakung, East Jakarta. In the midst of the threat of competition caused by the influx of foreign-made products, there are still enthusiasts who love shoes made by local home industries. In the 7×3 meter house, workers can complete dozens of pairs of shoes with various models to fulfill orders and can reap tens of millions of rupiah in turnover.
Site (61), one of the workers, said that orders come from various regions in Indonesia every day, from Greater Jakarta, Medan, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Papua. As for the price, each pair of loafers is sold for Rp35,000 to Rp700,000 per 20 pieces.

The home industry has been in operation since 1980 and is committed to consistently maintains the traditional way of loafer manufacturing, starting from the process of leather cutting, sole making to packaging. All are done manually using simple tools.
