The action was also condemned by many parties, including by Cianjur regent Herman Suherman. Herman emphasized the action was inappropriate as the church has no ulterior motive than to provide humanitarian assistance.
West Java governor Ridwan Kamil also reacted strongly. He said any humanitarian assistance should not be viewed negatively when it comes from certain groups.
