She explained that their presence is meant as a form of support for students protesting on behalf of the community. They admitted that they came from various locations in Greater Jakarta and gathered at Gondangdia railway station.
“We congregated at around 1 pm at Cut Meutia mosque, then pray first before marching here,” said the woman from East Jakarta. The 60-strong group encouraged the students not to be afraid to voice their aspirations.
“We support our students as bearers of people’s aspirations. Don’t give up because we as the mothers are behind you,” she remarked. (un)
