Jakarta, IO – President Joko Widodo, acting as ceremonial inspector, rides a tank to inspect TNI personnel during the 78th Anniversary if the Indonesian National Armed Forces at the National Monument (Monas), Jakarta (5/10).
President Jokowi arrived at the venue accompanied by First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo, Vice President Ma’ruf Amin and Second Lady Wury Estu Handayani, as well as Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto.
This year’s anniversary is themed “Patriots of the Republic of Indonesia Guarding Democracy for Advanced Indonesia”, meaning that TNI as the main component of national defense will remain solid, strong and loyal to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

The ceremony was attended by around 4,600 personnel from the army, navy and air force. The event was also liven up by parachute demos by 78 paratroopers from three service branches, as well as aerial stunt by the Jupiter Aerobatic Team and the Indonesian Air Force’s Dynamic Pegassus Team.
