Jakarta, IO – Jakarta Provincial Government has sealed three coal warehouses because they are considered polluting to the environment.

The three coal warehouses that were shut down were PT Bahana Indokarya Global in East Jakarta, PT Trada Trans Indonesia and PT Trans Bara Energy in North Jakarta, per Katadata, Monday (11/9).

Jakarta caretaker governor Heru Budi Hartono said his administration has taken firm action against a number of industries that violate environmental regulations. One of the measures is by closing the charcoal vendors in Lubang Buaya, East Jakarta.

“If they violate the regulations, especially the environment, we will take firm actions,” said Heru.

To reduce air pollution, Heru also requested that all buildings belonging to the provincial government be installed with water mist devices.

According to Heru, this measure is very important to reduce air pollution levels, especially during the Asean Summit.

“The air quality in Jakarta has improved, but we want long-term solutions,” he said.
