Jakarta, IO – Banjarnegara Police chief Hendri Yulianto said a shaman named Mbah Slamet, 45, who claimed that he had the ability to propagate money, was arrested over the accusation of committing a premeditated murder. The investigation started after he was reported by the son of one of his victims, identified as GE, in late March, reported Detik, Tuesday (4/4).
The case has captured public attention in the last few days. In its report, GE recounted that in July 2022 he and his father, identified as PO, went to meet someone who then brought them on a bus ride from Sukabumi to Wonosobo. They then met Mbah Slamet who brought them to his house in Balun village in Banjarnegara, Central Java.
Mbah Slamet then asked PO to come inside a room, while GE was asked to wait outside. On March 20, PO returned to Banjarnegara alone to meet Mbah Slamet. He told GE’s brother when he arrived on March 23.
He also asked GE to come to Slamet’s house with the authorities if he did not hear from him by Sunday (26/3). But by since the 24 he could not be contacted.
GE then filed a complaint to Banjarnegara PD which launched an investigation that led to the arrest of Slamet. PO’s body was found buried near a forest trail on April 1.

Hendri said that PO was interested in an ads posted on Facebook claiming that Slamet has the magical ability to propagate money. He had given some money to Slamet but later found out that it was all a scam so he repeatedly demanded his money back. Slamet was accused of murdering PO by lacing his drink with poison because he was irritated by PO’s constant demand and his threat to report him to the police.
For his crime, Slamet and his accomplice BS face death penalty or life imprisonment. Police also found that there are 10 others who fell victim the get-rich-quick scam. Their remains were found buried in the suspect’s garden. Police are still identifying the identities of the bodies. (un)
