Jakarta, IO – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will continue to pursue fugitive Harun Masiku, said KPK interim chairman Nawawi Pomolango.

“We continue to locate his whereabouts,” said Nawawi, per Katadata, Wed (17/1).

Nawawi said KPK has heard rumour circulating on social media that Harun has died. However, he stressed that the anti-graft agency works based on hard facts and evidence.

Meanwhile, KPK Supervisory Board chairman Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean said that the search for Harun Masiku has yet to yield any progress.

He said the investigation team has even expanded the search to neighboring countries. “Some of the team members went to the Philippines.”

Harun was accused of bribing then General Elections Commission (KPU) commissioner Wahyu Setiawan to secure a seat in the House of Representatives (DPR) left vacant by a deceased member from the ruling party, PDI-P. He was the party’s cadre from South Sumatra.

He repeatedly ignored KPK summons until he went missing and was put on the wanted list (DPO) since January 17, 2020.
