Malang, IO – A rainbow village in Malang, popularly known as Jodipan Village, is one of the first tourist villages in Malang City. As the name implies, every corner of this village is decorated with eye-catching vivid colors.
Not only with wall paint, various handicrafts and decorations also liven up the atmosphere of this colorful village. This place has always been a popular destination for tourists who want to take pictures or just see first hand the beauty of this former slum.
The village on the river bank used to be dirty and smelly due to mindless littering by the local residents. But in 2016, a group of students majoring in Communications from University of Muhammadiyah Malang initiated a program. In collaboration with a paint company through their corporate social responsibility program, the slum area was transformed into a colorful village.

This change has a big impact on the local community. The littering stopped. In addition, residents can earn extra income due to increase in the number of visitors.
