Indonesia, Saudi Arabia Sign 4 Cooperation Agreements

Jakarta, IO – The agreements were announced at a meeting between President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and Saudi Arabian Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) in Riyadh, Thursday (19/10).

The agreements include the establishment of the highest coordination council for Indonesia and Saudi Arabia to strengthen working relations between the two countries, per Katadata, Friday (20/10).

Both countries also agreed on a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the fields of youth and sports. Another youth sector collaboration is a youth exchange program.

In addition, the two countries agreed to promote youth activities, encourage cooperation between youth organizations, and exchange knowledge and experience through conferences, symposiums and seminars.

Meanwhile, in the sports sector, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia will conduct research, exchange athletes and officials, initiate sports for people with disabilities, and share knowledge and technology.

Jokowi and MBS also agreed on a technical cooperation program between the National Standardization Agency (BSN) and the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization.

Finally, the two leaders also agreed to strengthen cooperation between the Indonesian Halal Certification Agency (BPJPH) and the Saudi Arabian Food and Drug Authority regarding halal products quality assurance. (un)
