Govt to build 49 low-cost apartment towers to house civil servants relocating to Nusantara next year

Jakarta, IO – Public Works and Housing Ministry’s director general of housing Iwan Suprijanto said the ministry has started the construction of 47 low-cost apartment towers (rusun) for the state civil apparatus (ASN) and security defense employees in the new capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan.
Construction is expected to be completed in 19 months or in December 2024.

“We received a challenge from the minister, at least by July 2024 as many as 12 towers and their furniture have been completed, so they can be occupied immediately,” said Iwan, Tuesday (29/8).

According to him, the residential complex will be located in the Central Government Core Area (KIPP) and IKN sub-WP 1A with a total land size of 45.91 hectares.

Overall, there will be 2,820 units of 98 square meters each. “Each tower is 12 storeys, including social and public facilities podium and public space,” said Iwan. “Each unit will have three bedrooms.”

The construction is expected to cost Rp9.4 trillion to be funded from the state budget. Meanwhile, the IKN Authority will ensure the operationalization of flat management in order to create small ecosystems of residential neighbourhoods that are liveable with all infrastructure facilities supporting the activities of occupants in the IKN.

“The ministry is tasked with ensuring the availability of existing infrastructure and facilities at the IKN, while the IKN Authority will regulate the details regarding occupancy of the tower,” Iwan said. (rr)
