Jakarta, IO – A family consisting of parents and two children died after jumping from an apartment in the Penjaringan, North Jakarta, Saturday (9/3).
The authorities are still investigating the case believed to be a suicide pact, per Kumparan, Mon (11/3). This is confirmed by CCTV footage around the location where the father, EA (50); mother, AEL (52); daughter, JL (15); and son, JW (13), were seen walking together toward the 22nd floor of the apartment. EA was seen kissed his wife and two children near the elevator.
Penjaringan Metro Police chief Agus Ady Wijaya said the victims were found dead with their hands tied together with rope. “EA’s hand was tied to a rope with his 15-year-old daughter while AEL’s hand was tied to her 13-year-old son but the rope came undone when slammed into the ground,” said Agus.
“On the rooftop there were no other witnesses. The CCTV showed them all falling at the same time,” added Agus.

Agus said the police has yet been able to establish a motive. However, there were rumor that the family was facing financial crisis.
The incident was first known to the security guard who heard a loud thud of objects slamming the earth. He then looked for the source of the sound and found four bodies lying on the ground. The victims’ bodies were taken to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital for post-mortem examination. (un)
