Chinese national missing while vacationing at Long Pink Beach, Labuan Bajo

Jakarta, IO – Yi Liu, a Chinese citizen, was reported missing while traveling at Long Pink Beach at Komodo National Park, Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Tuesday (3/10).

The joint search and rescue (SAR) team is currently still searching for the 27-year-old woman. Supriyanto Ridwan, head of the local office of the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), said Liu went missing at around 10am WITA yesterday, per CNNIndonesia, Wednesday (4/10).

“We are carrying out SAR operations at Long Pink Beach Labuan Bajo,” said Supriyanto.

According to the chronology of events obtained from the captain of the ship carrying Liu’s tour group, they arrived at the beach at 8.30am WITA.

The captain told that all passengers disembark to enjoy the natural beauty of the beach. However, when all tourists were asked to board the ship and the manifest was checked, Liu was not on board.

“It was found from the video footage at 9.16am WITA that the victim was recorded walking on the beach wearing a snorkeling suit,” said Supriyanto. (un)
