Jakarta, IO – A Buddhist association held a joint prayer for peace for Palestine from the top of Borobudur Temple in Magelang regency, Central Java. They also offer prayers at other Buddhist temples.

The prayer gathering was organized by the Buddhists from Jakarta Council of Buddhist Communities (Walubi) led by the venerable Bhikkhu Samantha Kusala Mahasthavira (Suhu Pusham), per Detikcom, Fri (17/11).

“One of these dharmayatra activities is carrying out ritual activities, especially at temples or main sites. Today we gather at Borobudur Temple,” said Bhikkhu Samantha.

In addition to prayer for Palestine, they also recited Buddhist sutras and mantras at the top of the massive Unesco World Heritage Site.

“We pray for the well-being of all beings, especially to our brothers in Palestine and Israel who are engaged in conflict. Hopefully, this conflict will end as soon as possible,” he said.

He went on to explain that because Buddhism teaches about love and peace, the main duty for each of its followers is to maintain harmony with one another while living a peaceful, happy and fulfilled life. (bp)
