Jakarta, IO – The Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) is set to launch the Campaign Monitoring Information System (Siwaskam) application. Bawaslu commissioner Puadi said the application aims to make it easier to monitor public rallies during the 2024 Elections.

“In the next two to three days, the application will be launched,” said Puadi, per Katadata, Sun (27/11).

In addition, Puadi said next year’s campaign supervision process will be more focused in line with election supervision regulations, starting from the national to sub-district level.

He said that his agency would form a Campaign Supervision Facilitation Team in each regency or municipality. The team, said Puadi, will be tasked with ensuring that the campaign monitoring process runs according to the proper corridors.

Bawaslu chairman Rahmat Bagja previously asked the agency’s branches in regencies and municipalities to create a special strategy to monitor campaigns on social media. According to him, the digital space allows information spreads quickly, which potentially can be used to propagate misinformation.

“Identify popular hashtags, fake accounts and trends that can potentially spread false information,” said Bagja.

KPU has designated the campaign season to run from November 28 to February 10, 2024 when the presidential and vice presidential candidate pairs are given the chance to win the hearts of voters and introduce their programs to the public. (un)
