Bali to start impose tourist tax in February next year

Jakarta, IO – Starting in February 2024, foreign tourists to Bali will be charged Rp150,000 (US$10), said the head of the Bali Tourism Agency Tjok Bagus Pemayun on Monday (21/8), per Kompas.

Tjok further said that currently the bylaw (Perda) regarding foreign tourist tax has been finalized. Meanwhile, the Governor Regulation (Pergub) is still being drafted.

“This regional regulation was made based on Law 15/2023, specifically Article 8(3) and (4),” he said.

Tjok said the law allows the regional administration to charge foreign tourists for the purpose of protecting culture and the natural environment in Bali.

The policy was announced by Bali governor I Wayan Koster on Thursday (13/7).

The tax will apply to all foreign tourists entering Bali by land, sea and air. (rr)
