He argued that currently the state is consistently obscuring justice, information is not credible and it seems as if the case is conditioned to be slowly forgotten.
“The state has an obligation to resolve gross human rights violations. However, all of these are just empty promises, only illusions. Of all the presidents, none of them have the courage to resolve these human rights violations,” he said.
Meanwhile, Maria Catarina Sumarsih, a mother of Bernardinus Realino Norma “Wawan” Irawan, one of the victims, expressed her gratitude to Atma Jaya Catholic University students and also journalists who continuously speak out against injustice in the tragedy.
“Thank you, Atma Jaya students, the journalists who have been here since the incident on November 13, 1998, year after year, never stopping, even advocating. I remember very well that on November 17, 1998 there was a promise at that time that this case would be resolved as justly as possible. In fact, until now everything is still blurry,” she said.
